About
Welcome to Soto H. Achri, a gem nestled within the bustling Pasar Mandalagiri in Garut, West Java, Indonesia. This quaint eatery has been delighting taste buds for over a decade, offering a culinary experience that celebrates traditional flavors and local ingredients. The warmth of a culinary tradition echoes in every bowl, inviting both locals and visitors to savor the aromatic allure that defines Indonesian cuisine.
As soon as you step inside, you’ll be greeted by the rich scent of soto, a comforting soup made from a savory broth that reflects the essence of the region. What sets Soto H. Achri apart is their commitment to using slow-cooked meats, particularly their tender daging (beef) paired with kikil (beef tendon), all prepared over an authentic wood fire. This meticulous cooking method elevates the dish, resulting in a texture that is both soft and succulent, ensuring that every bite melts in your mouth.
The iconic soto kuning here boasts a broth that is vibrant and aromatic, tinged with spices that burst with flavor. Customers have praised the lightness of the santan (coconut milk), making it a delectable choice even on warm days. You can tailor the experience to your liking by adjusting spiciness levels with available cabe bubuk (chili powder) and a side of sambal, alongside a refreshing squeeze of lime to enhance its zesty notes.
Enjoy the culinary journey with an array of crunchy kerupuk (crisps) available at your table, including authentic dorokdok and emping, which perfectly complement the rich flavors of the soto. At a reasonable price, a complete bowl costs around IDR 30K-35K, offering an unbeatable value for a memorable meal.
While Soto H. Achri may be modestly located in a narrow alley of the market, its allure lies in the authenticity of its offerings and the nostalgic atmosphere that surrounds you. Reviews from delighted customers, like the 'Happy Couple' and 'lj chen', underscore the restaurant’s legacy as a ‘soto legend’ – a place that not only serves delicious food but also evokes cherished memories for returning patrons.

“ Letak Soto Achri di dalam Pasar Mandalagiri. Terakhir mengunjungi Soto Achri 10 thn yg lalu dan rasanya masih sama. 1 porsi soto daging campur kikil (tanpa nasi) 30K. Daging dan kikil yg dimasak lama dengan kayu bakar menghasilkan kelembutan daging yg empuk, dipadu dengan kuah kuning kaldu daging berempah. Sesuaikan level pedas dengan bubuk cabe kering & sambal cabe, perasan jeruk nipis & kecap manis Tin Tin khas Garut. Tak lupa per-kerupukan yg tersedia di meja : dorokdok (rasa ori & pedas), kerupuk putih, emping menemani kelezatan soto. Wajib dikunjungi bila datang ke Garut. ”
“ Untuk rasa asin gurih mantul, dagingnya lembut bgt. Harga perporsi 35rb sudah pake nasi. Cuma ya tempatnya dipasar dan digang sempit jadi berbagi jalan kalo ada yg lewat terutama becak. ”
“ Soto legend yang letaknya di tengah pasar. Kuahnya hampir mirip soto kuning bogor ya. Tapi ini lebih light santannya dan berempah gurih. Disedain penambah rasa (garam dan cabe bubuk) jadi bisa sesuai selera. ”
“ Its hidden in the alley of the market, the place was simple, but the food was screaming delicious! The meat was soft and tender, the soup was just perfect. If you like sour and spicy..just add some lime and it will taste even more refreshing. ”
